Capri Destination Wedding

Gianna & Brett’s story, from Chicago to the Faraglioni.
Capri destination wedding — the Faraglioni seen from the water. Replace with the real hero photograph.

Gianna and Brett flew in from Chicago for a Capri destination wedding built around one idea: a day that felt entirely like them, not a copy of a hometown wedding relocated abroad.

Capri Destination WeddingWhy couples choose the island

Capri’s Faraglioni — the twin limestone stacks rising straight out of the sea — remain one of the most sought-after backdrops for couples planning a destination wedding in Italy. American couples in particular are increasingly choosing a symbolic ceremony over a legally binding one, freeing every detail — vows, setting, guest list — to be chosen purely for what it means, not what’s required.

Getting ReadyIn the same room

Rather than separate suites, Gianna and Brett got ready together, in the same hotel room. No staged “reveal,” no manufactured suspense — just two people dressing side by side, photographed exactly as it happened. It’s the first chapter of a wedding day told through pure reportage: no posing, no direction, only proximity and light.

“No aisle, no rows of chairs — just the pause before the words, and the light shifting across open water.”

The Ceremony at Sea

Vows on a BoatFacing the Faraglioni

The couple exchanged a symbolic vow at sea, a small boat carrying them and their closest witnesses out from Marina Piccola until the Faraglioni filled the frame. A wedding on a boat in Capri strips the day to its essentials — no aisle, no rows of chairs, just the pause before the words and the light shifting across open water.

Villa Verde & Anema e CoreTwo very different nights

Dinner at Villa Verde, a historic restaurant near Capri’s Piazzetta, brought the intimate half of the celebration — candlelight, toasts, a terrace built from an old private garden. Later, the group moved to Anema e Core, Capri’s legendary taverna since 1994, for live Neapolitan music and a very different kind of energy. This is where the photography shifts register: still unposed, but composed with an editorial eye — warm light, movement, portraits framed like a magazine spread rather than a snapshot.

Not an AlbumIt’s a Journal

This dual approach, documentary by day and editorial at night, is why Luca Bottaro Studio doesn’t deliver a traditional wedding album. Every couple receives a Journal: a bound book inspired by Vanity Fair and Vogue, pairing photography with written narrative in an editorial layout, sequenced like a real magazine feature rather than a chronological photo dump. You can browse more real stories in the Journal.

The MethodStudying the story before the wedding

Every choice Gianna and Brett made — the shared room, the boat, the taverna instead of a ballroom — was a reflection of who they are as a couple. Capturing that requires learning a couple’s story before the wedding day, not during it. That’s the foundation of Luca Bottaro Studio’s approach: pure reportage photography, grounded in real research into each couple, translated into images that move fluidly between documentary honesty and editorial craft.
